I made two illustrations of one Finland's most famous composers Oskar Merikanto (1868-1924).
The first shows Merikanto as a child learning how to play the piano. He was from a poor family, but a local cantor gave him private lessons as they recognised his talent.
The second shows Merikanto as a young man just after he became famous. When Merikanto walked in the capital, he could hear his most popular composition Summernight's Waltz played on home pianos everywhere.
